MTS AND KISTLER GROUP COOPERATE TO ENHANCE THE ROAD SIMULATION EXPERIENCE

Eden Prairie, Minn. – March 18, 2013 – MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC), a leading global supplier of high-performance test systems and position sensors, today announced that it has entered into a cooperative relationship with the Kistler Group, a leading global provider of sensors for measuring pressure, force, torque and acceleration.

By the terms of this relationship, MTS will initiate a well-structured, multi-year retirement of its existing SWIFT® (Spinning Wheel Force Transducer) product line, and immediately begin offering its customers a choice between SWIFT and Kistler RoaDyn® wheel force transducer (WFT) products for both road load data acquisition (RLDA) and road simulation needs.

The relationship will leverage the proven strengths of both companies, complementing MTS system-level road simulation innovation with Kistler WFT leadership to optimize and enhance the vehicle testing and road simulation experiences of automobile developers worldwide. “This collaboration is definitely in the long-term best interests of our customers,” said Scott Bieganek, MTS System Market Manager. “It is structured to ensure full support of our existing SWIFT products, while providing a seamless upgrade path to the full array of Kistler’s world-class wheel force transducer technologies.”

“Preparations are well underway for the planned transfer of global SWIFT calibration services, repair and technical support from MTS to the Kistler Group by 2015,” said Dr. Jens Kubasch, Kistler’s Head of Business Field Vehicles Dynamics and Durability. “We are committed to continuing the SWIFT product line through its planned lifecycle, as well as pursuing technical consolidation of MTS and Kistler RoaDyn systems for the longer term.”

According to Dr. Rich Baker, Senior Vice President and General Manager of MTS Test, entering the cooperative relationship demonstrates MTS’ ongoing commitment to meeting the testing challenges of the global automotive industry. “This collaboration will allow us to focus more effectively on pursuing the system innovations required to keep pace with evolving road simulation needs,” Baker said. “We look forward to working closely with the Kistler Group to advance the state-of-the-art of this industry-critical testing technology.”
