High-force Model 647.250 grips can be used to test flat and round specimens up to 550 kip (2500 kN) for fatigue testing, or to 610 kip (2750 kN) for tensile test applications. They are ideal for tension-compression panel testing, fatigue crack growth and fracture toughness testing of metal and composite specimens up to 300 mm wide and up to 104 mm thick.
Model 647.250 grips feature a streamlined side-loading configuration that maximizes the available test space, simplifies specimen installation, and dramatically reduces the time required for test setup. Their wedge-action design offers outstanding repeatability, clamping onto large specimens or components in the exact same position every time to minimize bending strains that can invalidate results; a dramatic improvement over traditional mechanical L-bolt grips, which require the drilling of holes and repeated tightening of bolts.
Model 647.250 grips are designed to accommodate flat or vee type wedges, both of which are available with sets of economical, easy-to-install liners to extend their utility across a range of specimen sizes.
