Introducing the Advantage™ Video Extensometer (AVX)Driven by faster cameras, processors and software, the new Advantage Video Extensometer (AVX) delivers the speed, accuracy and flexibility test professionals have been waiting for since video extensometers made their debut.
Unlike first generation video extensometers, MTS’ AVX enables point-to-point measurement. In this technique, spectral paint is applied to the entire surface of the test specimen. The extensometer system recognizes patterns in the paint, enabling higher measurement accuracy and far greater versatility than conventional edge-to-edge techniques. The resulting data is then digitized and processed using new MTS TestSuite TW software, which enables calculation and analysis of specimen strain and modulus.
The versatile AVX performs axial and axial-transverse measurements, as well as orthogonal, rotational and dual average. It measures strain in several areas simultaneously, which helps characterize non-homogenous materials (such as composites) that do not react uniformly. It also supports numerous setups, such as multi-camera, multi-segment and multi-point strain, allowing test professionals to combine fields of view and perform more exacting studies of failure mechanisms and other complex events.
The AVX is available in four configurations, each tailored to a specific testing purpose: rubbers/plastics; metals; composites; and research and development. Available features include video archiving and up to eight channels/cameras.
