Tubing, Piping and Coupling Connection Testing
Tubing, piping, couplings and casing connections used for offshore oil exploration and drilling must withstand extremely inhospitable operating environments. In addition to extremely high forces, temperatures and pressure, these components are exposed to a constant onslaught of acid, mud and slurry. Assuring structural integrity requires static and cyclic tests that validate product designs and verify manufacturing quality. Casing and tubing connection tests typically follow ISO 13679 procedures to determine performance envelopes, and to establish test and limit loads.
MTS provides complete solutions for precise testing of large-scale tubular/connection specimens. We offer all the equipment necessary to perform a wide variety of high-force tests, as well as a proven track record in the oil and gas industry, plus responsive global support from qualified professionals who understand your testing concerns. Capabilities of particular interest for tubing, piping and coupling connection testing include:
• High-force horizontal load frames capable of applying tension, compression
and bending moments
• Custom load frames that can deliver forces up to 30 mN (6.6 million pounds)
• Subsystems that apply internal and external pressurization and thermal cycling
• Unique systems for applying torsion loads
• Digital controls that manage complex cycles of tension, compression, bending
and pressure
• Precision software that accommodates standard testing as well as advanced hybrid
modeling and simulation
