Eden Prairie, Minn. – February 15, 2016 – MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC), a leading global supplier of high-performance test systems and position sensors, continues to take steps to bring its engineering expertise closer to important clusters of industrial activity to better serve its customers. On January 23, the company announced the grand opening of its newest manufacturing facility in Guildford, UK.
The Guildford site will focus on making advances in energy recovery technology, including the development and manufacture of next-generation electric power systems (EPS) and solutions for more efficient vehicles. The official opening of the new MTS facility was attended by representatives from McLaren Applied Technologies, rFpro, Williams Grand Prix Engineering Ltd, Qinetiq, Unico, the University of Surrey, the Ford Motor Company, Jaguar Land Rover, Scuderia Toro Rosso, and Ferrari.
“It was an honour to be invited to officially open the new MTS UK facility. We a have a long, diverse and successful relationship with MTS Systems. The new state-of-the-art Energy Recovery System assembly and test cells are a welcome addition to MTS’ Electric Power Systems capability,” shared Mr. Thierry Baritaud, Head of Energy Recovery, Turbo and Injection Systems of Ferrari S.p.A.
Professor Dr. Mark Gillan, Director of Motorsport Technology at MTS, who is based at the Guildford facility, explains: “Although we have served the UK market for many years, adding an engineering and production presence brings real value to our EPS customer base - both in the UK and across Europe.“
